Register a domain
V.PS registers .com, .net and .org domains at €10.95 a year, with free DNS hosting and free WHOIS privacy. Renewal and transfer cost the same as registration.
Search for a name
Open the domain search, or sign in to the client area and pick Domains from the Order menu.
Type the name you want and click Search. Each result shows whether the name can be registered, transferred, or is already taken. Click Register to add an available name to your cart.
Configure the domain
On the configuration page:
- Period: register for 1 to 10 years.
- Nameservers: every domain includes the free V.PS DNS service. To point the domain elsewhere, select I want to use my nameservers and enter your own.
- Domain contacts: fill in the registrant details, or tick Use my details as domain contacts to copy them from your account. Registries require real information.
Check out
Click Continue, review the order, then click Checkout and complete the payment. The domain is registered automatically once the payment clears.
Domain registrations are non-refundable once submitted to the registry; see the Terms of Service.
Manage the domain
After registration, open Domains in the client area and select the name.
From the domain details page you can:
- Change nameservers and manage DNS records
- Get the EPP / Auth code and toggle the registrar lock for transfers
- Check the expiry date and turn on Auto Renew
- Edit WHOIS contact information
- Manage DNSSEC
If a .com, .net or .org domain does expire, the registry allows renewal at the normal price for up to 45 days. After that comes a 30-day redemption period where restoring costs €99.95, so auto renewal is worth turning on.
Auto renewal needs a way to pay: add a credit card to your account or keep enough account balance to cover the renewal, or the charge fails and the domain expires anyway. The renewal guide covers both setups.
